How did I test the two Aerojet drivers?

Both drivers were tested indoors on Trackman using RCT balls.

Specs of the drivers tested:

Aerojet - 9.0 Degrees of Loft, Standard Lie, Standard Length, Regular Flex, Mitsubishi Chemical Kai'li White 60 gram graphite shaft.

Aerojet MAX - 9.0 Loft, Standard Length, Regular Flex, Mitsubishi Chemical Kai'li Blue 60 gram graphite shaft.

If I had to buy one today: Aerojet MAX

I hit the Aerojet MAX so well during testing, and the extra forgiveness gives it the go ahead nod. This should be the case for most golfers who are inconsistent off the tee.

Here is more detail on why I graded each category the way I did:

Appearance

The only REALLY noticeable difference between the Aerojet and Aerojet MAX drivers in terms of appearance is that the MAX version has the extra adjustable weight in the heel, giving it two.

The Aerojet has one back sole adjustable weight. Aside from that, they are similar and have a nice look to them.

It's not overly flashy or elegant, but they look good overall.

Winner: Tie

Sound

Both sound fantastic — no complaints for either in this area. If you hit center-face, you will get a nice solid whack.

Winner: Tie

Feel

Both drivers have the same nice feel. They are smooth swinging, and you would enjoy hitting with either one.

Winner: Tie

Distance

In this category, I must put an asterisk because I changed my swing technique a bit between hitting the Aerojet and Aerojet MAX, and the results were incredible with the Aerojet MAX.

The distance was way better than with the Aerojet, but the caveat should be that my swing was much improved when I hit the MAX.

Winner:  Aerojet MAX

Forgiveness

The Aerojet MAX version is built with the added forgiveness to help golfers with an inconsistent driver swing. After swinging them both, although the Aerojet has a decent level of forgiveness as well, the Aerojet MAX does kick it up another gear when it comes to hitting off center-face.

You don’t get penalized as much if you’re not on your driver swing for the round.

Winner:  Aerojet MAX

Accuracy

I give the nod to the Aerojet in terms of accuracy. This is probably because the MAX has a draw bias that took a bit to get used to.

Also, tinkering with my swing and setup while using the MAX led to a higher dispersion of where my drives ended up.

The Aerojet model was nothing but pure consistency in accuracy.

Winner: Aerojet

Overall Swing Enjoyment

Being a mid handicapper who is still trying to sort out their driver swing to the best it can be, I will take the extra forgiveness added into the Aerojet MAX. They are both fantastic clubs, and Cobra did well in designing them.

Still, I will generally lead to the extra forgiveness to keep me honest during rounds.

Winner: Aerojet MAX

How do the forgiveness levels compare between the Aerojet and Aerojet Max drivers?

The Aerojet driver offers a good level of forgiveness, excelling in feel while providing moderate spin performance with added stability.

However, the Aerojet Max driver is specifically designed to deliver the highest level of forgiveness. It is built to significantly support golfers prone to making off-center hits.

What type of player is the Aerojet driver designed for compared to the Aerojet Max?

A golfer should consider choosing the Aerojet driver over the Aerojet Max driver when looking for a golf club that balances feeling, forgiveness, and performance.

If they have a higher skill level and can consistently hit the ball closer to the center of the clubface, then the standard Aerojet model might be a more suitable option.

The forgiveness level of the Aerojet MAX is best suited for beginners, higher handicaps, and mid handicap golfers who struggle with driver contact consistency.

Final Thoughts on the Aerojet vs Aerojet MAX

Overall, the Aerojet line of drivers are great performers, and the value is there in terms of performance for the money.

With the Cobra DARKSPEED line of drivers on the market, those who don’t want to spend $500-$600 on a new driver can find excellent performance in the Aerojet line at a cheaper price.

Cobra Aerojet MAX Crown

I would purchase the Aerojet MAX because that added forgiveness is a nice assurance for the days I am not hitting well off the tee. I also smashed the heck out of it during testing, and it seemed effortless, averaging almost 221 carry yards and 252 average total yards.

Thanks for checking out this Aerojet head-to-head comparison!
