In this article, I will share my personal and detailed comparison of the Cobra LTDx MAX driver vs Aerojet MAX driver comparison review from the perspective of an independent amateur golfer. I've personally tested both drivers extensively, hitting plenty of balls with each in studio on Trackman.

I'll compare these two head-to-head in categories like appearance, sound, feel/forgiveness, distance, and accuracy.

At the end I'll share which driver I thought was better overall value for the money and my recommendation on which you should buy.

These drivers may be released a year or two before the Cobra DARKSPEED MAX driver, but don’t sleep on the value and quality at great prices.

Cobra LTDx MAX Driver vs Aerojet MAX Price Compared

With the release of the new DARKSPEED MAX driver in early 2024, the LTDx MAX and Aerojet MAX have seen significant price drops. This should be an immediate eye opener for those looking for a new driver but don't want to spend the $600 price tag on new releases.

You can currently find the Aerojet MAX brand new for as low as $299, and the LTDx MAX brand new for as low as $249.

There are also pre-owned versions of both clubs available ranging in the $160-$240 depending on condition and features.

Appearance

There are many similar features appearance-wise between the two drivers, and at the same time, some differences. I know I have mentioned in individual reviews that the Aerojet line is decent-looking but almost feels like a regression in appearance from the LTDx.

The LTDx MAX has a crisper and a more premium look, especially with that infinity symbol sweet spot on the face.

LTDx Infinity Driver Face

The Aerojet MAX design looks too much like a toy in my eyes, and the black and gold of the LTDx MAX leave a very bold mark, which is more appealing.

Sound

They are both nice sounding drivers, and you can’t go wrong in that department. One didn’t bother me or stand out as being worse (I feel there are a few drivers out there with odd sounds), but the LTDx MAX did sound a bit more complete overall on contact.

This was surprising because in the comparison of the regular models, noted here in my Cobra Aerojet Driver vs LTDx review, I found the sound to be very similar. In the MAX versions, the LTDx MAX sounded slightly better.

Winner: LTDx MAX

Feel/Forgiveness

They both had a similar feel to them, and that is one thing Cobra does very well in all the drivers I have hit made by them. Cobra consistently pumps out drivers that feel very comfortable and effortless to swing.

Both of these Cobra drivers are fully loaded with the max forgiveness. No further elaboration is needed; they are as advertised.

Winner: Tie

Distance

This was a bit of an interesting category when I looked at my numbers from the respective Trackman sessions I had with both of these drivers.

My average carry yards were higher with the LTDx MAX, but my average total yards were higher on the Aerojet MAX. The difference in both categories was very minimal.

My swing speed average was similar for both, and the smash factors and ball speeds were similar.

All in all, they ended up essentially in a wash. My longest drives for both were in the low 270s total yards; I just had a few more with the Aerojet MAX (although I hit 30 more balls with this driver)

All that to say, both give consistent AND similar distances.

Winner: Tie

Accuracy

The winner here was the Aerojet MAX. The whole time I was hitting this driver, I always felt like I was in control and ended up where I wanted it to be. The dispersion of the shots that weren’t as great felt much tighter, where the LTDx MAX would get a bit loose every once in a while.

Winner: Aerojet MAX

Overall Winner: Aerojet MAX

The Cobra LTDx MAX and Aerojet MAX are both fantastic drivers to swing and my distance numbers were generally identical. The accuracy was tighter with the Aerojet MAX, but overall, they were pretty equal for enjoyment in my experience with them.

I can’t believe I am saying this, but I would purchase the Aerojet MAX if I had to buy one of the two today. Both drivers are high performing and do as they say in terms of forgiveness. The Aerojet MAX just felt more controlled and accurate.

FAQ

Is the LTDx MAX or Aerojet MAX Driver Better for Beginners and Higher Handicaps?

Trick question! They are both very solid, and a beginner or high handicap golfer would be helping their game by playing either one.

The max forgiveness levels for both the LTDx MAX and Aerojet MAX will allow all those who are inconsistent with their driver to get some help on days when their swing is just not great.

They won’t solve ALL your problems, but I know from hitting balls with both of them that they are well equipped to help out the average golfer.
