How did I test both Stealth 2 drivers?

Both drivers were tested indoors on Trackman using RCT balls.

Specs of the drivers tested:

Stealth 2 - 9 Degree Loft, Standard Lie, Standard Length, Regular Flex, Fujikura Ventus TR Red 5 Graphite Shaft.

Stealth 2 Plus - 10.5 Loft, Standard Lie, Standard Length, Regular Flex, Mitsubishi Chemical Kai'li Red 60 gram Graphite Shaft

If I had to buy one today: Stealth 2

Between the two, the forgiveness and swing enjoyment of the Stealth 2 send it miles ahead for me.

Here is more detail on why I graded each category the way I did:

Appearance

Essentially, the Stealth 2 and Stealth 2 Plus are close to identical in appearance; most importantly, both have the attractive 60 X Carbon Twist face in sharp, eye-catching red.

The main difference is the adjustable weight in the sole of the Plus model, which is not present on the regular Stealth 2. With or without this moveable option, both drivers look fantastic.

Winner: Tie

Sound

As expected, the sound between the Stealth 2 and Stealth 2 Plus is the same. I heard nothing different between the two. No more needs to be said.

Winner: Tie

Feel

Surprisingly, because I thought they would be very similar, I felt more comfortable hitting the Stealth 2.

The ball felt way more explosive off the face of the Stealth 2 over the Stealth 2 Plus. The Stealth 2 just felt energized and alive.

Winner: Stealth 2

Distance

As mentioned, the ball was eruptive on the face of the Stealth 2, and the Stealth 2 Plus was nowhere near as consistent with forgiveness.

Strangely, the Stealth 2 Plus had a better distance average after my testing. I would not have guessed it based on the natural feel difference in both.

For my swing, however, the Stealth 2 felt much more compatible, and the energized feel was more enjoyable.

But, the testing numbers favor the distance winner:

Winner: Stealth 2 Plus

Forgiveness

The trend is evident in the categories so far, but the Stealth 2 just felt way more forgiving.

There were a few shots with the Stealth 2 Plus that I hit more towards the toe or heel, but they still had decent distance for me, so there is still some solid level of forgiveness in the Plus - just not nearly as much as I would like.

However, swinging with the Stealth 2 felt like I could do no wrong.

Winner: Stealth 2

Accuracy

I felt the Stealth 2 Plus was all over the place. I guess I can take some of the blame for my swing that day, but still, I could not get comfortable optimizing its use for my swing.

The Stealth 2 was very consistent and accurate.

Winner: Stealth 2

Overall Swing Enjoyment

Once I got more into testing the Stealth 2 Plus, I could see the benefits of that driver, and the distance data from my swings does reflect that.

That said, the slight distance advantage isn’t as significant as the forgiveness and pure energy/enjoyment I felt while swinging the Stealth 2.

Winner: Stealth 2

What are the design differences between the TaylorMade Stealth 2 and Stealth 2 Plus?

The main difference between the Stealth 2 and Stealth 2 Plus drivers lies in the adjustability options. While both drivers are designed for TaylorMade’s pretty clever “Fargiveness” features, the Stealth 2 Plus has the adjustable perimeter weighting and a loft sleeve.

Stealth 2 Weight

The Stealth 2 has a 25-gram weight at the back while the Stealth 2 Plus only has a 15-gram weight in the same spot. This is because of the additional moveable weight of the Stealth 2 Plus, which is another 15 grams.

Final Thoughts on Stealth 2 vs Stealth 2 Plus

Stealth 2 Plus had a bit of distance advantage, but the main Stealth 2 just destroyed in terms of forgiveness, enjoyment, and natural feel.

If I were choosing one, I would get the Stealth 2

If you have a high ball flight and a consistent swing, the Stealth 2 Plus and its lower spin might be great for adding distance.

Thanks for reading my Stealth 2 Comparison!
